These terms govern your use of MeridianCart. By creating an account, placing an order or using our website or app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. About MeridianCart
MeridianCart is an online marketplace. We provide the platform on which independent sellers list products and buyers purchase them. Sellers are independent businesses and not employees or agents of MeridianCart. The contract of sale for an item is between the buyer and the seller, and MeridianCart facilitates the payment, support and dispute process around it.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity on your account.
- One person should hold one account. We may suspend or close accounts that are used for fraud, abuse or breach of these terms.
3. Orders and payments
Prices are shown in Nigerian Naira (NGN) and include the item price. Delivery fees and any discounts are shown at checkout before you pay. Payments are processed securely by Paystack. An order is confirmed only after your payment has been successfully verified. Stock for an order is reserved for a short time while you complete payment, and the reservation is released if payment is not completed.
4. Delivery
Full details of delivery fees, delivery times and what to do if something goes wrong are in our Shipping and Returns Policy, which forms part of these terms. Each seller ships their own items using the delivery options shown at checkout. Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by factors outside anyone's control. Digital products are made available in your account as soon as your payment is confirmed.
5. Confirming delivery and release of payment
When you pay, the money is held by MeridianCart and is not released to the seller immediately. After your order is delivered you can confirm that you received it. Payment is released to the seller when you confirm, or automatically if 7 days pass after delivery without you raising a complaint. If you have a problem, please raise a complaint within that period.
6. Returns, refunds and complaints
The steps, evidence and refund amounts are explained in our Shipping and Returns Policy. If an item does not arrive, is not as described, or is faulty or damaged, you can raise a complaint from your account. We review each complaint on its facts, may ask both sides for evidence such as photos or messages, and decide whether a refund, partial refund or other remedy is appropriate. Refunds are returned to your original payment method where possible. Because digital products are delivered instantly, they are generally not refundable once downloaded, except where the file is faulty or not as described.
7. Seller terms
- Sellers must pass verification, supply truthful business and payout details and keep them up to date.
- Sellers must list only items they are entitled to sell, describe them accurately, keep stock levels correct and dispatch orders promptly.
- MeridianCart charges a commission on each sale. The commission that applies to your products is shown in your seller centre.
- Sellers are paid after the buyer confirms delivery or the confirmation window has passed, less commission, payment processing costs and any approved refunds.
- We may remove listings or suspend sellers who breach these terms, sell prohibited items or receive repeated valid complaints.
8. Affiliate programme
Approved affiliates earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through their referral links. Commission is confirmed only once the related order is completed and is reversed if the order is refunded. Self-referrals, misleading promotion, spam and any attempt to manipulate tracking are prohibited and may result in removal from the programme and forfeiture of unpaid commission.
9. Prohibited conduct
You must not use MeridianCart to sell or buy illegal, counterfeit, stolen or dangerous goods; to defraud or harass others; to post false or misleading reviews; to interfere with the security or operation of the platform; or to collect other users' personal data.
10. Reviews and content
Reviews should reflect your honest experience. You keep ownership of content you submit, but you give MeridianCart permission to display it on the platform. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
11. Intellectual property
The MeridianCart name, logo, website and app are owned by us or our licensors. Sellers remain responsible for ensuring they have the rights to the products, images and descriptions they upload.
12. Limitation of liability
We work hard to keep the platform available and accurate, but we provide it on an "as is" basis. To the extent the law allows, MeridianCart is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the acts and omissions of sellers and delivery companies. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Nigerian consumer protection law.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using MeridianCart and close your account at any time, subject to completing any open orders, complaints or payouts. We may suspend or terminate access where these terms are breached or where required by law.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. Continuing to use MeridianCart after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute that cannot be resolved through our complaints process.
